Singapore shares end week on positive note

The local bourse ended a volatile week on an upbeat note, with the key Straits Times Index gaining 24.87 points or 0.8 per cent to 3,013.14.

The gain, alongside those at other Asian bourses, was led by a strong uptick in US stocks overnight following positive jobs data and strong corporate earnings.

Traders await crucial jobs data later tonight out of the US for indication on the direction of the world's largest economy.

Gainers led losers 208 to 181 while 394 counters were unchanged. Turnover stood at 2.18 billion shares worth $1.14 billion.
