Singapore shares end 0.85% lower

Singapore shares slipped amid a broader decline across the region, as investors nervoulsy waited for the release of jobs data from the United States this week.

Analysts say the strength of the data could provide a guide as to when the Federal Reserve will reduce stimulus.

The benchmark Straits Times Index dipped 26.97 points, or 0.85 per cent, to 3,160.7.

Losers outnumbered gainers 254 to 112.

Albedo was the top active, rising 0.3 censt to five cents on a volume of 276 million shares.
