SINGAPORE - Helping local businesses internationalise and getting them to collaborate across different industries will be among the key tasks for the Trade and Industry Ministry.
The areas of focus were identified by Minister for Trade and Industry (Industry) S. Iswaran and industry leaders during closed-door meetings on Monday (Oct 12), said Singapore Business Federation chairman Teo Siong Seng.
He was speaking to reporters at the SBF office where one of the meetings were held.
During that meeting, Mr Iswaran and Ms Low Yen Ling, Parliamentary Secretary for the Ministry of Trade and Industry, spoke to some 15 SBF council members, trade association leaders and other business representatives for about two hours.
"Internationalisation has always been an important part of our economic strategy," Mr Iswaran told reporters after the dialogue.
"The fundamental question for us is where is it meaningful, and in what form can Government support be rendered to make this workable, and at the same time yield the kind of economic benefits for our own economy, whether it's in terms of new activites, and also in terms of new opportunities for Singaporeans."
