Morning business news round-up for Oct 17, 2014

SINGAPORE - Catch up on the morning's top business headlines in Singapore with The Straits Times Money Desk's daily update.

1. SIA takes control of loss-making Tigerair. Singapore Airlines will take majority control of Tigerair, part of the turnaroud plan for the budget carrier, which reported a record loss of $182.4 million for the three months to the end of September.

2. Latest Singapore export data disappoints. Non-oil domestic exports edged up only 0.6 per cent in September compared to the same period a year ago, missing analysts' forecasts and casting a shadow on the final third-quarter growth numbers which have yet to be released.

3. Another exit at CapitaLand. The head of CapitaLand Singapore's residential arm, Mr Wong Heang Fine, has resigned in the latest departure at the property giant.
