Money briefs: Indonesia's inflation up

Indonesia's inflation up

JAKARTA • Indonesia's annual inflation rate accelerated slightly last month as demand increased in the days leading to the Aidilfitri celebrations near the end of the month, the statistics bureau said yesterday.

The consumer price index rose 4.37 per cent in June from a year earlier, the highest increase since March 2016. In May, the annual rate was 4.33 per cent.

Oil prices still on uptrend

LONDON • Oil pared earlier losses yesterday, resuming its longest stretch of daily rallies in more than five years after data pointed to moderating US output, though analysts said news of rising Opec production could cap gains.

Brent crude futures were up 26 US cents on the day at US$49.03 a barrel by 1300 GMT (8pm Singapore time), off a session low of US$48.54.
