1 Berkshire Hathaway's US$1.1 billion (S$1.5 billion) bet on Apple hints at confidence in the firm's ability to create new products that reignite revenue growth, either with the iPhone 7 or in areas like autonomous driving or virtual reality hardware, Bloomberg wrote.

2 The 20 largest capitalised consumer stocks on the SGX have a market capitalisation of $122.5 billion. The five best performers this year were Japfa, Thai Beverage, Shangri-La Asia, Delfi and Wilmar International.

3 Jewellery retailer Aspial said chief executive Koh Wee Seng has bought 60,700 shares at 27.247 cents apiece.

4 Addvalue Technologies, which provides satellite-based communication terminals, is undertaking a renounceable non-underwritten rights issue of up to 395.79 million new shares at an issue price of 3.5 cents each. It is considering moving to Catalist as well.

5 Mainboard-listed SIA Engineering has entered into a two-year contract (with an option to renew for an additional year) with Tigerair Australia to perform heavy maintenance services for its A320-200 fleet, commencing this month.
