Lim Hng Kiang attends Apec trade ministers' meeting in Hanoi

SINGAPORE - Minister for Trade and Industry (Trade) Lim Hng Kiang will attend a meeting for trade ministers in Hanoi over the weekend.

He will join other Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (Apec) ministers responsible for trade at meetings in Hanoi, Vietnam, from Saturday (May 20) to Sunday, said the Ministry for Trade and Industry (MTI) in a statement on Friday.

Vietnam, this year's Apec chair, has set the theme for this year's meeting as "Creating new dynamism in Apec, and fostering a shared future".

At the meeting for trade ministers, they will discuss issues related to deepening regional economic integration; fostering sustainable, innovative and inclusive growth; strengthening micro, small and medium enterprises' competitiveness; innovation in the digital age; and enhancing food security and sustainable agriculture in response to climate change.

Mr Lim will be accompanied by officials from MTI and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
