Jurong EC draws record number of applications

SINGAPORE - An executive condominium (EC) in Jurong has drawn a record number of applications from eager buyers.

By 9.40pm on Sunday night, 1,848 applications had been logged for Lake Life in the Jurong Lake District - more than three times the 546 units available, said the project's developers in a press release.

The number could still increase as property agents have until midnight to key in the details of the application exercise, which closed at 9.30pm.

The interest in Lake Life was 20 per cent more than last year's most popular EC, Sea Horizon in Pasir Ris, which received more than 1,500 applications.

Evia Real Estate, which leads the consortium developing Lake Life, said about two-thirds of the applications received for the project were from second-time applicants.

The average age of applicants is about 42 and close to six in 10 of them have a monthly household income of between $8,000 and $12,000, it added. EC applicants must earn no more than $12,000.

Only about one in 10 applicants for Lake Life has a monthly household income of less than $5,000, Evia said.

Lake Life's developers will release the prices for the units and open the development's showflats on Nov 5. Bookings will start on Nov 8.
