DBS Group Holdings announced yesterday that it has appointed veteran banking executive Shee Tse Koon, 46, as group head of strategy and planning.

Mr Shee joins DBS from Standard Chartered Bank, where he was most recently chief executive officer of its Indonesia franchise.

He has over 22 years of banking experience across a range of front- and back-office functions, as well as stints in different regions, including Asia, the Middle East and United Kingdom.

Mr Shee, who is Singaporean, started his career in trade finance as well as corporate and institutional banking.

Prior to his Indonesia posting, he was StanChart's head of governance (Europe, Middle East, Africa & Americas), based in the United Arab Emirates, as well as chief information officer and head of technology and operations for the bank in Singapore.

At DBS, Mr Shee will report to group CEO Piyush Gupta and be a member of the bank's group management committee, and help to develop and implement the ongoing strategy for the bank.
