Release of factory activity data

The Purchasing Managers' Index (PMI) for September - an early gauge of factory activity - is due out today. The data will give an indication of how the struggling manufacturing sector, which makes up a fifth of the Singapore economy, is performing.

The Monetary Authority of Singapore's latest survey of professional forecasters, which polls private sector economists on their outlook for the economy, is also due for release today.

World leaders in China for WWII events

World leaders, including Russian President Vladimir Putin and South Korean President Park Geun Hye, will begin arriving in Beijing today to take part in events commemorating the 70th anniversary of the end of World War II tomorrow. During the visit, the leaders are expected to hold talks on issues of mutual interest with Chinese President Xi Jinping, as well as bilateral talks with their counterparts from other countries.

Meeting of green building experts

The Singapore Green Building Week officially opens today. Academics, built environment practitioners and international green building experts will meet over the week to discuss climate change and sustainable business values, among other topics.
