China 2014 trade surplus up 45.9% as exports grew and imports shrank

BEIJING (AFP) - China's trade surplus rose 45.9 per cent to 2.35 trillion yuan (around S$507.66 billion) last year, as exports grew and imports shrank, the government announced Tuesday.

Exports increased 4.9 per cent to 14.3 trillion yuan in 2014, while imports fell 0.6 per cent to 12.04 trillion, the General Administration of Customs said. It did not immediately provide dollar totals.
