The electronics and precision engineering cluster of the manufacturing sector has been singled out as the main drag on Singapore's economy this year.
Second-quarter figures showed that falling output in the electronics cluster - along with transport engineering and precision engineering - led to a year-on-year contraction of 3.1 per cent in the manufacturing sector, much deeper than the first quarter's 0.3 per cent contraction.
