Regional online marketplaces such as Jumia, Takealot and Kilimall are providing consumers access to international brands at their fingertips, while the large unbanked population offers firms the opportunity to pioneer fintech innovations.
More than US$55 million was invested into fintech companies in Africa in 2015, ranging from those offering mobile wallets to ones focused on peer-to-peer lending or payment security software.
