Singapore's United Envirotech says in talks with potential buyer

SINGAPORE (Reuters) - United Envirotech, a Singapore-based water treatment company, said on Wednesday it was in talks with a potential buyer, but did not give any details.

United Envirotech has a market capitalisation of about US$1 billion (S$1.25 billion). KKR China Water Investment Holdings is its biggest shareholder.

Companies listed on the Singapore exchange have become takeover targets recently, with the total size of these deals so far this year reaching a record US$13 billion.

Companies that are in discussion with potential buyers include STATS ChipPac, a semiconductor firm controlled by Singapore's state investor Temasek Holdings.

Shares in United Envirotech last traded at $1.465, up nearly 62 per cent so far this year. The trading of shares will resume at 3pm Singapore time.
