SINGAPORE - Singapore shares opened 0.17 per cent higher on Wednesday (Oct 19), with the benchmark Straits Times Index at 2,835.4 in early trade, up 0.17 per cent, or 4.79 points.

Around 119.1 million shares exchanged hands.

Gainers beat losers 111 to 48.
