SINGAPORE - Singapore shares opened lower on Monday, with the benchmark Straits Times Index at 2,762.45 in early trade, down 0.05 per cent, or 1.37 points.

Around 44.9 million shares exchanged hands.

Gainers beat losers 70 to 59.
