Singapore - Local shares closed slightly higher on Thursday. rising 8.65 points or 0.26 per cent to 3,347.28.

It was a lacklustre day of trading for most regional bourses after China released data showing inflation remained tepid in August.

Sydney fell 0.51 per cent, Seoul declined 0.74 per cent, Shanghai ended 0.29 per cent lower, and Hong Kong slipped 0.17 per cent.

Tokyo climbed 0.76 per cent.

At home, 1.18 billion shares worth $801.5 million changed hands.

There were 167 gainers, versus 211 losers.

Catalist-listed International Healthway Corp (IHC) was the top active, staying flat at 26.5 cents on a turnover of 57.5 million shares.
