Singapore - Local shares ended the session slightly higher on Tuesday, rising 7.77 points or 0.23 per cent to 3,342.96.

Some 1.03 billion shares worth $624.4 million changed hands.

There were 183 gainers versus 202 losers.

It was a slow day for most Asian bourses, after the Standard & Poor's 500 Index retreated from a record overnight.

Tokyo gained 0.28 per cent, while Sydney rose 0.55 per cent. Shanghai ended marginally higher, adding 0.1 point.
