New roles for trio at Stanchart Singapore

SINGAPORE - Standard Chartered has placed three Singaporeans to key roles in Singapore.

Mr Andrew Chia was appointed head of retail banking.

Ms Vanessa Leung was named head of Commercial Banking while Mr Goh Beng Kim will be the new head of transaction banking.

All three appointments will take effect no later than Nov 1, as the bank continues to focus on serving its clients in areas where it has strong product and service capabilities, Stanchart said in a statement.

Mr Chia is presently the global head of managed investments, group wealth management, and prior to that was head of retail clients, Standard Chartered Bank (Taiwan) until June.

He joined the bank in October 2010 as regional head of wealth management for Singapore and Southeast Asia.

Ms Leung currently heads up the portfolio management regional coverage team in lending and portfolio management, a global function based in Singapore.

Prior to 2007, she spent eight years with the Singapore business in senior roles managing credit and as head of local corporates from 2004 to 2005. She joined Stanchart in 1995.

Both Andrew and Vanessa will report to Judy Hsu, chief executive officer of Stanchart Singapore.

Mr Goh Beng Kim moves from his position as head, product management, transaction banking, Asean. He joined the bank in 2009, where he initially performed the same role for Singapore before taking on the regional position in 2012.
