SINGAPORE - ST Engineering will be getting a new chief executive next year, the aerospace and defence conglomerate said on Wednesday (Sept 30).

Mr Vincent Chong Sy Feng, 45, deputy chief executive (corporate development), will be appointed president and chief executive-designate from tomorrow.

The new boss of mainboard-listed ST Engineering joined the group in April 2014 as president of strategic plans and business development in Singapore Technologies Aerospace(ST Aerospace). He assumed his current role in December last year.

He is expected to take over leadership when Mr Tan Pheng Hock, 58, the current president and chief executive, retires in about one year's time, the company said in a filing with the Singapore Exchange.

Mr Chong will also "oversee the group's four business sectors" in addition to his current responsibilities, it said.

The group provides services across the aerospace, electronics, land systems and marine sectors.

Mr Tan has resumed duties after his medical leave after suffering from a mild stroke in July. He will work closely with Mr Chong to ensure a smooth leadership transition.

Mr Tan, who began his career in the group as an engineer in Singapore Technologies Marine (ST Marine) in 1981, has lead the company since February 2002.
