1 Shares of solar power firms surged late last year due to the five-year extension of a key tax credit in the United States and a climate change accord, Reuters reported. But the index has dropped 16 per cent this month.

2 The chief exec of Malaysia's AirAsia X said taking the firm private is an option, after shares of parent AirAsia fell 65 per cent in the past year to become the worst-performing airline in Asia, Bloomberg said.

3 Malaysia's Sime Darby, the world's largest oil palm planter by land size, said the drying effects of El Nino and a prolonged drought could lower its palm oil and fresh fruit production this financial year, Reuters reported.

4 Mainboard-listed GRP is making a takeover offer for Catalist-listed Starland at a price of 23.6 cents per share. Starland is a Chinese property developer with projects in Chongqing.

5 SGX-listed Wee Hur will launch its 517-unit industrial project, Mega@Woodlands, tomorrow. It will be one of the largest industrial projects recently launched here.
