Market highlights

1 The yuan fell for a third day against the greenback on concerns that Beijing prefers a weaker currency to stability versus the greenback, said Bloomberg.

2 The SGX Real Estate 20 Index has generated a total return of 2.9 per cent so far this year with a dividend yield of 4.6 per cent, while the Hang Seng Property Index declined 8.2 per cent in Singdollar terms.

3 ST Engineering was queried by SGX over its unusual trading activity. Its shares closed 18 cents higher at $3.24, on 6.5 million shares traded. The firm replied that it was not aware of any reason for the trading not previously announced.

4 MTQ Corporation expects to see increased losses for the fourth quarter and the year ended March 31, owing to a goodwill impairment charge as well as impairment to the value of a unit's fleet.

5 Lion Asiapac said an expected third-quarter loss is due to a drop in the quicklime business - which faces excess supply and falling demand.
