Market highlights

1 Coca-Cola, the world's largest soft-drink company, posted first-quarter profits that beat analyst estimates after new beverage sizes and cost cuts helped boost margins, Bloomberg said.

2 Singapore Exchange-listed Far East Orchard, which builds homes and owns and operates hotels, said net profit for the quarter to March 31 jumped to $16.88 million from $3.8 million a year earlier. Revenue sank 51 per cent to $51.09 million.

3 Gold player Wilton Resources will place out about 55.6 million new shares to Madam Tay Shu Chin at an issue price of 5.4 cents per share.

4 Seroja Investments said its unit has secured a new contract involving transporting coal from Adaro Indonesia's mines. The Seroja unit says this will give it a stable and reliable stream of business.

5 Anchun International issued a profit guidance for the first quarter. Due to the low prices of oil and chemicals, some of Anchun's customers have asked for delivery to be delayed or postponed. New projects have been postponed.
