Market highlights

  1. Three STI stocks were among 10 stocks to record big volume surges last week. They were: Genting Singapore, DBS Group Holdings and Global Logistic Properties. The trio averaged a 3.5 per cent gain last week.
  2. F J Benjamin yesterday entered into a non-binding term sheet with an international third party over a potential transaction which may enhance or unlock shareholder value of the beleaguered retailer.
  3. Golden Agri-Resources has posted a third-quarter net profit of US$219.7 million (S$311.2 million), against a US$16.4 million loss a year earlier, helped by higher crude palm oil prices and improved performance of its downstream business.
  4. Property player KOP, which is developing a winter playground in Shanghai, is placing out 221.6 million shares at 11.5 cents apiece to raise $25.48 million.
  5. Property group UOL has bought back 1.05 million of its shares at between $5.60 and $5.64 apiece for a total of $5.9 million.
