Market highlights

1 Oil prices came close to 11-year lows, on fears that the global oil glut would worsen in the months to come in a pricing war between Opec and non-Opec producers. Brent crude fell to below US$36.70 a barrel for the first time since December 2008, Reuters reported.

2 The five Straits Times Index Reserve List stocks that can replace a constituent of the STI are Suntec Reit, CapitaLand Commercial Trust, Singapore Post, Neptune Orient Lines and First Resources. Their returns year-to-date are 1.2 per cent, said an SGX report.

3 Cosco Corp (S), the shipbuilding arm of China's China Ocean Shipping Group, fell to 30.5 cents yesterday, the lowest price in more than 11 years, on last Friday's news that it will post a "significant net loss" in the fourth quarter.

4 Oceanus Group was placed on the watch-list with effect from yesterday. Oceanus will stop the arrangements it was making to transfer from the mainboard to Catalist.

5 IPS Securex Holdings' subsidiary, IPS Securex, received a US$64.46 million (S$91 million) Letter of Award for the sale of Hyperspike devices and its accessories. This is for delivery to a client in South-east Asia over a period of five years by December 2020.
