Market highlights

1 There were 24,876,600 shares repurchased by 37 companies for a total consideration of $63.9 million last month. This compares with $544 million in August last year and $71 million in July this year, said the Singapore Exchange.

2 The five stocks with the largest buyback consideration value last month were Singapore Airlines, Olam International, DBS Group Holdings, Wilmar International and SIA Engineering Company.

3 KS Energy said one of its units has won a US$7 million (S$9.5 million) drilling contract in North Sumatra. Work is likely to start in the fourth quarter of this year and last for about six months.

4 Mainboard-listed SunPower will supply flare systems worth 20.68 million yuan (S$4.2 million) to Yanchang Petroleum. The systems will be used in the Yan'an coal-gas-oil resources integrated utilisation project.

5 SGX-listed ValueMax Group will buy 100 per cent of Teck Chong Pawnshop for $3.76 million. The price includes the market value of the Housing Board shophouse.
