Market highlights

1 Structured warrants trading turnover hit a peak of $92 million on Aug 11. Most of it came from warrants based on the Hang Seng Index (HSI). Three issuers on SGX offer HSI products: Macquarie, UBS and Vontobel.

2 Apple products retailer Epicentre expects to make a loss for the year ended June 30. This is due to lower sales of certain Apple products as well as lower profit margins from the sale of accessories because of increased price competition.

3 Sin Heng Heavy Machinery expects to record a net loss for the fourth quarter and full year ended June 30 due to lower revenue resulting from the competitive operating environment and disposal of certain non-performing cranes.

4 Crane owner Tiong Woon Corp Holding said it is likely to report a loss for the year ended June 30, largely owing to a provision for doubtful debts.

5 Home-grown pharma firm iX Biopharma has completed pre-clinical development for WafeRest, a melatonin wafer supplement aimed at alleviating jet lag and improving sleep quality.
