SINGAPORE - A joint venture of Keong Hong Holdings, Katong Holdings, has appointed InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) to manage its first hotel property in Singapore.

IHG will provide hotel management services, including design and construction consultancy on the design and construction, said the company on Wednesday.

The mixed-used project in Katong-Joo Chiat has a gross floor area of 25,000 sq m.

It will comprise a 131-room Hotel Indigo Singapore Katong, a 451-room Holiday Inn Express Singapore Katong, food and beverage outlets and retail shops.

Keong Hong's chief executive Ronald Leo said: "The hotel site will feature two of IHG's distinctive brands - Hotel Indigo and Holiday Inn Express, which resonates with our objectives of building a landmark development which appeals to our target segments of travellers and at the same time, reflects the unique heritage and ethnic cultures of the Katong-Joo Chiat neighbourhood."

The hotels are slated to open in 2016.
