Haw Par's Q2 net profit rises 10.2%, boosted by healthcare sales, other income

SINGAPORE - Leisure and health-care group Haw Par Corp saw healthy growth in the second quarter on the back of increased sales.

Net profit for the second quarter ended June 30 gained 10.2 per cent to $59.5 million, thanks to a 13.7 per cent hike in revenue to $45.5 million.

Haw Par said increased sales and margins from its healthcare division boosted its earnings.

Other income also jumped 13.4 per cent to $48.6 million as a result of higher dividend income from investments.

Net profit for the half year rose 16.2 per cent to $71.7 million while revenue over the period increased 14.8 per cent to $73.1 million.

Earnings per share rose to 27.2 cents from 24.7 cents previously.

Net asset value per share went up to $11.94 from $11.18.

The firm has declared an interim dividend of 6 cents per share.

Haw Par shares closed down 6 cents to $8.50. It reported its earnings after markets closed.
