Ellipsiz full-year net profit up 44% on strong probe card solutions sales

SINGAPORE - Semiconductor equipment provider Ellipsiz's net profit for the year ended June 30 surged 44 per cent to S$9.6 billion, while revenue rose 6 per cent to S$118.7 million thanks to a strong showing in the probe card solutions business.

Probe card solutions sales rose 15 per cent over the previous financial year, while distribution and services solutions experienced a decrease of 8 per cent, attributed to a slowdown in equipment and tools sales due to more controlled capital spending by customers.

The company said in its exchange filing on Tuesday that it is "cautious" about prospects across key markets for the rest of 2016.

"Macroeconomic headwinds, soft demand, a supply glut in the global memory chip market and controlled capital spending by customers continue to create uncertainties for our business activities," it said.

Earnings per share for the year was 5.74 cents, up from 4.01 cents the preceding year. Net asset value per share was 51.77 cents as at June 30, up from 47.56 cents a year ago.
