Agile Property chairman resumes duties after being freed from detention

Chinese property developer Agile Property Holdings said two of its top executives including its chairman Mr Chen Zhuo Lin, who was in the custody of Chinese authorities, returned to work on Monday.

Agile, which faced weakened sales and tighter margins amid the property downturn, said Mr Chen was "no longer subject to the measures" and would resume his duties as an executive director, chairman and president of the company from today.

Since October, Kunming city authorities in China's Yunnan province had required Mr Chen to "stay at a designated residence," but didn't identify any wrongdoing.

The company added that a second executive, Mr Huang Fengchao, had notified the firm that he will resume his duties as executive director and vice president of the group and regional head for Hainan and Yunnan regions.

It said its operations and business "remain in its usual and normal manner", but did not specify the reasons for his detention or for his release.
