Asia presents immense opportunities for the logistics industry, especially as trade links strengthen and infrastructure improves in the region, said Mr George Yeo.

Singapore's former foreign minister, now the chairman of Kerry Logistics, was speaking at the Supply Chain Asia Forum, held on Wednesday at the Grand Copthorne Waterfront Hotel.

Despite the recent capital outflows from emerging Asia, "the growth story in Asia has a long way to run". For instance, Asean-China trade links have been growing, said Mr Yeo.

Asked during the question and answer session after his speech if he misses politics, the former politician said he "misses some aspects of politics", such as the sense of satisfaction from serving the common good "that you can only get in the public service".
