UN envoy to visit soon, 'will listen to us': Syria
BEIRUT (AFP) - Newly appointed international peace envoy Lakhdar Brahimi is due to arrive in Syria soon, foreign ministry spokesman Jihad Makdissi said on Sunday.
"We will listen to him and he will listen to us," Mr Makdissi told a pro-Damascus Lebanese television channel.
"The issue is not one-sided." Veteran diplomat Brahimi was appointed to replace former United Nations (UN) secretary general Kofi Annan as the UN-Arab League envoy to Syria after Mr Annan's six-point peace plan failed to stop the bloodshed in the country.
In an exclusive interview with NBN channel - the mouthpiece of Lebanese pro-Damascus party, AMAL - Mr Makdissi blamed the international community for the ongoing conflict.
