MOSCOW (AFP) - Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov asked the European Union Wednesday to encourage the Ukrainian opposition leaders to cooperate with the authorities.

Lavrov "called for partners in the European Union to use their close and daily contacts with the opposition to urge them to cooperate with the Ukrainian leadership", in a phone conversation with his German counterpart Frank-Walter Steinmeier, the ministry said on its website.
