Mexico bus crash kills 14, injures 24
NAUCALPAN, Mexico (AFP) - A bus packed with morning commuters careened off a cliff outside Mexico City on Friday, leaving 14 people dead, including a child, and injuring 24 others, officials said.
The bus was lying upside down when ambulances arrived at the scene on a highway linking the Mexico state capital of Toluca to the Mexico City suburb of Naucalpan.
The Mexico state prosecutor's office said the dead included nine men, four women and a boy. The Naucalpan town government said the boy was wearing a junior high school uniform.
Twelve people died on the spot while one victim succumbed to injuries in an ambulance and another in a Mexico City hospital, the Red Cross and prosecutor's office said.
