Man wins more than $9,000 after Disney 'Small World' ride breakdown
LOS ANGELES (AP) - A disabled man was awarded US$8,000 (S$9,932) by Disneyland after the "It's A Small World" ride broke, stranding him for three hours while the theme song played continuously, his attorney said.
Lawyer David Geffen said Jose Martinez was the only passenger not evacuated when the ride broke down in 2009, and staffers failed to call the fire department to free him.
The ride's familiar song couldn't be turned off the entire three hours Mr Martinez was stuck.
Disneyland spokeswoman Suzi Brown said the Anaheim theme park believes it provided appropriate assistance during the incident, and is disappointed that the court did not fully agree.
