Italian jumps off bridge after announcing suicide on Facebook

VIENNA (AFP) - A 24-year-old Italian man on Monday committed suicide by jumping off a bridge in southern Austria after posting about his "spectacular suicide" plans on Facebook.

Local police said the man, from Italy's north-eastern Tarvisio region, gave no motive for the suicide.

After posting the plans on the popular social network, he then took his car and sped past an Austrian police road control, triggering a high-speed car chase in the state of Carinthia, police said.

He then pulled over and committed suicide by jumping off a 50m bridge.
