German police arrest hostage-taker, free captives
INGOLSTADT, Germany (AP) - Police say they have arrested a hostage-taker and freed his captives at the city hall in the Bavarian city of Ingolstadt.
The standoff, which began on Monday morning, forced Chancellor Angela Merkel to cancel an election rally there.
Police spokesman Guenther Beck told The Associated Press that the captor was injured during a police raid late on Monday afternoon, and his two remaining captives were freed.
Mr Beck said it was not immediately how the hostage-taker was injured.
