LONDON (AFP) - Former Manchester United manager Alex Ferguson is to take up a teaching post at Harvard, the prestigious US university said Friday.

Ferguson, 72, whose coruscating "hairdryer" rants at players were infamous in the football world, will lecture senior executives at the Ivy League university's business school.

The gruff Scot, the most successful manager in British football history, will teach on a programme called "The Business of Entertainment, Media and Sports" from May 7-10.

"I'm delighted to have the opportunity and privilege to contribute to such a respected centre of excellence," said Ferguson.
