Facebook hits new milestone : 1 billion users
NEW YORK (AFP) - Facebook said on Thursday that it now has more than one billion users, in a new milestone for the world's biggest social network.
Co-founder Mark Zuckerberg made the announcement, saying the number is "humbling. "This morning, there are more than one billion people using Facebook actively each month," he said in a statement. "If you're reading this: thank you for giving me and my little team the honour of serving you. "
Interviewed on the NBC Today show, Mr Zuckerberg, 28, admitted that the company was going through a bit of a "rough cycle" after its rocky initial public but insisted he was the right person to lead Facebook. AP reported.
Some on Wall Street have questioned whether he has the ability to lead a large public company. "I take this responsibility very seriously," he said.
