Facebook CEO lobbies Congress on immigration
WASHINGTON (AP) - Facebook chief executive Mark Zuckerberg is visiting Congress to lobby lawmakers in support of comprehensive immigration overhaul legislation.
Mr Zuckerberg was pressing his case in private meetings on Wednesday and Thursday at the Capitol, including with Republican and Democratic members of House and Senate leadership.
His visit comes as the issue is stalled in the Republican-led House months after the Democratic-controlled Senate passed a sweeping bill that included more border security and eventual citizenship for millions here illegally.
Mr Zuckerberg refused comment after meeting on Wednesday with New York Democratic Senator Chuck Schumer. Mr Schumer welcomed Mr Zuckerberg's involvement and said he'd asked the Facebook leader to meet with as many Republicans as possible.
