EU mission member killed in Kosovo shooting
MITROVICA, Kosovo (AP) - The European Union Rule of Law Mission (EULEX) in Kosovo says one of its members has been killed in a shooting in the tense, Serb-dominated north.
The mission says the incident took place early on Thursday during regular staff rotation. The statement says two EULEX vehicles came under fire from unknown persons.
The statement did not disclosed the name or nationality of the victim. It says an investigation is under way.
Kosovo declared independence from Serbia in 2008, but it remains tense because Serbia and Serbs in the north do not recognise the split.
