Britain's Kate makes first appearance since royal birth
LONDON, England (AFP) - Prince William's wife Kate on Friday attended her first public event since giving birth to their son five weeks ago.
But there was no sign of Prince George himself - now third in line to the British throne - as the couple attended a sports event on the Welsh island of Anglesey, where William is based as a Royal Air Force search-and-rescue helicopter pilot.
Wearing black jeans and a grey-green jacket with her long brown hair loose, Kate was described as looking "absolutely gorgeous" by locals who had come to watch the start of the gruelling three-day Ring O' Fire race around Anglesey's rugged coast.
She told one onlooker that she had left baby George with his grandmother, Carole Middleton, for the day.
