LONDON (AFP) - Britain hiked its pre-election growth forecast as the economic recovery picks up speed, finance minister George Osborne announced on Wednesday in his annual budget.

Gross domestic product was set to grow by 2.7 per cent in 2014, up from the previous forecast for expansion of 2.4 per cent, Osborne said, ahead of the general election due in mid 2015.
