Biggest Olympics ticket fraudster sentenced to 4 years
LONDON (AP) - The biggest seller of fake tickets for the London Olympics has been jailed for four years, British police announced on Friday.
Christakis Ioannou set up websites designed to look like the official portals, and received more than ¤500,000 (S$801,350) for non-existent tickets from people in 35 countries.
Olympians from France and Greece were among the fraudster's victims.
Detective Superintendent Nick Downing said over 400 people missed out on the games and "were simply ripped off".
