CAPE TOWN (AFP) - A popular Cape Town bakery was forced to apologise on Tuesday after bringing out an array of Oscar Pistorius themed cookies ahead of the South African athlete's murder trial next week.

The cookies - one of which depicted him with the logo of his former sponsor Nike and the wording "Just do it. He did it" - caused an online backlash.

Pistorius shot his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp through a bathroom door on Valentine's Day last year. He claims he mistook her for an intruder.

Another cookie depicted a toilet with the wording "Caution" and "Using toilet Please don't shoot!"
