4 Brazilian policemen get more than 30 years' jail each for death of boy, 11
RIO DE JANEIRO (AP) - A Brazilian court has sentenced four Brazilian police officers to more than 30 years in prison for the killing of an 11-year-old boy in a Rio de Janeiro slum.
The judiciary branch of Rio de Janeiro state says on Friday on its website that the four were involved in the June 2011 killing of Juan Moraes during a shootout in the Danon slum.
The boy had left his home to run an errand for his mother and was hit by police fire. His body was found three days later.
One officer was sentenced to 66 years' jail while the other four were sentenced to terms ranging from 33 to 36 years.
