SINGAPORE - The annual camera and imaging show at Yokohama, CP+ 2013, is still two days away, but Casio has fired the first salvo with the announcement of its two new digital compact cameras, Exilim EX-ZR700 and EX-ZR400.

Both cameras sport a 16.1-megapixel CMOS sensor, a 3-inch LCD screen and super fast performance. For example, the ZR400 has a shutter response of 0.015sec and super fast autofocusing speed of 0.14sec, according to Casio. Yet, both cameras are not heavier than 222g.

They are also fitted with a mode dial that lets users quickly choose from various shooting modes and are compatible with Eye-Fi or FlashAir wireless memory cards for transfer of images to a computer or smartphone via Wi-Fi.

However, ZR700 has a longer 18x optical zoom (25mm to 450mm equivalent of 35mm film) lens, while ZR400 sports a slightly shorter 12.5x optical zoom (24mm to 300mm equivalent of 35mm film).
