SINGAPORE - BlackBerry's newest phone, the BlackBerry Z10 is landing on Mar 7, from all three local telcos.
Powered by an all new BlackBerry 10 operating system, the Z10 is a huge departure from previous BlackBerry smartphones. It does not have the signature Qwerty keyboard and uses a 4.2-inch touchscreen instead. It also does away with a Home button on the screen, and uses gestures, such as an upward swipe from the bottom, for navigation.
For the first time, this BlackBerry device will use the regular data network deployed by the three telcos, instead of using the more expensive BlackBerry Internet Service and BlackBerry Enterprise Service utilised by the older BlackBerry devices.
In a hands on by Digital Life, the lack of a physical keyboard did not dampen the typing experience, as BlackBerry replaced it with a more intuitive typing interface. This new intelligent keyboard will attempt to predict your next words. If the right one appears on screen, users just have to swipe the correct word to have it added to their sentence.
