LIBREVILLE (AFP) - A Portugal side shorn of the talents of Cristiano Ronaldo, Nani and Raul Meireles but including seasoned faces such as Pepe and Joao Moutinho had to settle for a 2-2 draw with Gabon in a friendly on Wednesday.

Portugal coach Paulo Bento gave a run out to some lesser-known faces but it was his compatriot - Gabon coach Paulo Duarte - who will have been the more satisfied of the two after a young and enthusiastic host side gained a creditable result.

The Gabonese opened the scoring from the penalty spot after Silvio fouled Johan Lengoualama, allowing Levy Madinda of Spanish side Celta Vigo to convert in the 33rd minute.

Portugal, who reached the Euro 2012 semi-finals, were back on terms within a minute as Eder won another spotkick, fired home by Pizzi.
